Soprano Csilla Csövari studied at the Franz Liszt Academy for Music in Budapest and at the University of the Arts in Berlin with Julie Kaufman. During her studies she participated in masterclasses with Kiri Te Kanawa, Kurt Moll, Mitzuko Shirai, Yevgenij Nesterenko, Éva Marton, Krisztina Laki and Júlia Hamari. She graduated with Distinction in 2009.
Csilla Csövari won various competitions and prizes, including Les Symphonies d'Automne, the Offenbach Opera Prize in Cologne, and the Mihály Székely Singing Competition. She was a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association Cologne.
In 2014 she was named “Singer of the year” by the specialist magazine OPERNWELT for the role of Xsuscha in the world premiere of “Djaizat al salam" by Musikdebatte Köln.
Csilla Csövari was a member of the Opera Studio of the Cologne Opera from 2008-2010. In the 2010/11 season she joined the ensemble of the Cologne Opera and sang there with great success. Her roles included Blonde, Stasi, and a central role in the world première of Stockhausen's "Sunday of Light".
From 2011 she performed guest engagements at the Staatstheater
Cottbus, the Philharmonie Berlin, the Stuttgart Opera, and the opera houses of Magdeburg, Koblenz, Rostock, Hof, and Dessau. She sang at the Dresden State Operetta, the Nuremberg State Theater (Blonde, Marie (Daughter of the Regiment), La Folie Platée) and the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich (Blonde).
During the 2014/2015 season she was a permanent member of the ensemble of the
State Theater Nuremberg, where she sang roles including Sand/Taumännchen, Oscar, Susanna,Musetta, Frasquita, Amour and Zima (Les Indes Gallantes). Guest engagements led her back to the Gärtnerplatztheater (Blonde, Cunigonde (Candide)) and to the Heidenheim Opera Festival (Norina).
From the 2017/18 season she was a permanent member of the ensemble of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, where she sang roles including Gretel, Pamina, and Gretchen (Wildschütz).
Csilla Csövari went freelance in 2020. Highlights of this season (restricted due to the pandemic) included Gretel in a successful livestream production from the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, the woman with the ash in "Unser shtetl brent" by Musikdebatte Köln, as well as various concerts at the Franz Liszt Music Academy Budapest (Britten and Mozart).
Csilla Csövari participated in the kamara.hu music festival (Reynaldo Hahn and Gustav Mahler recitals) and made an award-winning radio recording in Budapest with songs by R. Strauss, Liszt and Schoenberg.
Csilla Csövari returned to the stage after the pandemic with Gretel in 2021 at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz. In July 2022 she will give her debut as Despina at the Nationaltheater Mannheim.
